Vinted Members Share Anger Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
